TASTE OF BELGIUM INTRODUCES HOUSE-MADE CIABATTA AND DIVERSE NEW SANDWICH LINEUP

New Bread Prepared Fresh Daily In Taste of Belgium’s Scratch Kitchen

CINCINNATI, OH – July 25, 2024 — Taste of Belgium is introducing house-made ciabatta bread as a complement to their lunch and dinner entrees and as a deliciously crunchy twist for a newly enhanced sandwich lineup at all seven of its bistros. The new sandwich additions are available now on the lunch menu exclusively at The Banks and Over-The-Rhine bistros and will soon be available at all bistro locations in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton.

The ciabatta bread, inspired by the historical Italian influence on Belgian cuisine, is the perfect complement for dinners like Taste of Belgium’s Belgian mussels entrees—Mussels Provençale, Mussels Marinière, Mussels and Chorizo and Mussels in Pesto Cream sauce. “In Belgium, mussels are a culinary passion,” Taste of Belgium founder Jean-François Flechet said, “and the ciabatta’s texture is perfect to soak up every drop of sauce.”

The new sandwich lineup follows in the Taste of Belgium tradition of providing a high-quality dining experience that draws upon Belgian cuisine and includes three guest favorite “comebacks”:

-       Belgian Turkey Club, a twist on the classic sandwich, features roasted turkey, Havarti, smoked bacon, cucumber, shredded carrot, hard-boiled egg and aioli.

-       Ham & Brie features smoked ham, brie, Granny Smith apples and pesto.

-       Smoked Salmon is a sumptuous combination of cold smoked salmon, herbed farmer’s cheese, capers and arugula.

An elevated update returns to the menu:

-       Cubano is an island-inspired taste featuring beer-braised pulled pork shank, smoked ham, Havarti, pickles and mustard.

And three brand-new sandwiches join the lineup:

-       Chorizo & Egg features spicy house-made chorizo and soft scrambled eggs.

-       Farmer’s Fresh is a refreshing mix of sliced cucumber, tomato, shredded carrot, spinach and herbed farmer’s cheese.

-       The “Italy meets Belgium” Meatball Sub features Belgian meatballs with grated Parmesan and marinara.

All sandwiches are served on house-made ciabatta, fresh baked in Taste of Belgium’s scratch kitchen, except for the meatball sub, which is served on a bun baked exclusively for Taste of Belgium. The sandwiches are available Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm at The Banks and Over-the-Rhine bistros only.

Named for its distinctive flat oval shape, ciabatta (the Italian word for “carpet slipper”) was first baked in Italy in 1982 and quickly gained popularity across Europe. “We are dedicated to delivering authentic flavors inspired by Belgian traditions,” Flechet said. “Our freshly baked ciabatta bread brings back fond memories of my teenage years in Belgium, when I first saw this delicious bread popping up in Belgian bakeries and experienced its amazing aroma.”

Taste of Belgium has also added a new Goetta Waffle, a traditional Liège-style waffle topped with Eckerlin goetta, Havarti, arugula and aioli, for a uniquely regional taste available for a hearty breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner option. “Our Belgian waffles have made us a popular brunch location,” Flechet said. “These new menu enhancements reflect our passion for serving exceptional food all day long.”

Taste of Belgium’s sandwiches are available in-bistro for dine-in only. For details and to view Taste of Belgium’s menu, go to https://authenticwaffle.com/menu/.
