TASTE OF BELGIUM ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF ITS ORIGINAL SMALL BATCH FRITES
Greater Cincinnati Frites Fans Drove the Return of The Classic Belgian Fresh Frites
Now Available at All Taste of Belgium Bistros
CINCINNATI, OH – January 22, 2024 — Taste of Belgium, the Cincinnati-based eatery renowned for its Belgian-inspired cuisine, brings back their authentic Belgian fresh frites to the Greater Cincinnati region. Beginning today, all Taste of Belgium bistro menus will feature the original savory, crispy frites, a cherished favorite among loyal customers. The revival of the original frites is a pivotal moment for Taste of Belgium, symbolizing a return to its roots and a renewed commitment to exceptional service and customer satisfaction. This move follows a period during which the restaurant experimented with a different approach to its frites.
French fries, or "frites" as they are known in Belgium, trace their origins to the heart of Belgian culinary tradition. What sets Belgian frites apart is the traditional meticulous twice-cooking process, involving blanching at a lower temperature followed by frying at a higher temperature, resulting in a combination of a fluffy interior and a crispy exterior. Taste of Belgium's commitment to quality was recognized in 2022 when they were awarded the title of "Best Fries in Town" by readers in City Beat’s Best of Cincinnati awards, just before the transition to the new frites.
In June 2022, Taste of Belgium transitioned to frozen frites from Belgium, in order to streamline operations and ensure consistency. However, the change sparked strong consumer feedback, with loyal patrons expressing a fondness for Taste of Belgium’s original fresh frites. The relaunch of Taste of Belgium’s original fresh frites aligns with the restaurant's commitment to providing an authentic Belgian culinary experience.
"Until we switched frites, we didn’t fully understand how critical our original frites
were to the Taste of Belgium's identity. We’ve learned how important it is to be focused on the voice of the customer and we're thrilled to bring back the original fresh frites that they’ve been clamoring for," said Jean-François Flechet, founder of Taste of Belgium.
Since its inception, Taste of Belgium has been committed to introducing Greater Cincinnatians to the rich flavors of Belgian cuisine. The return of the original frites is a testament to Taste of Belgium's dedication to authenticity, quality, and, most importantly, its valued patrons.
