Firm Broadening Focus on Personalized Service & Holistic Financial Offerings

COVINGTON, KY -  November 20, 2020 – Journey Advisory Group (JAG), a local registered investment advisory, has merged three existing businesses and acquired Torch Wealth Management, Blue Ash, to create Journey Advisory Group.  With the objective of broadening its level of expertise & service in all aspects of financial services, the firm has retained three well-known local finance executives:  Mike Whelan, Chief Financial Officer; Eric Pettway, Chief Investment Officer and Ed Haberer, Torch’s Founder and lead client advisor.

Leadership Additions to JAG’s Team

            As Chief Investment Officer for JAG, Eric Pettway, CFA, is responsible for strategic oversight of client portfolio assets, development of growth strategies and mitigating risk.  Eric has spent over twenty years in the investment industry, and has been a Senior Portfolio Manager and analyst for high and ultra-high net worth individuals and their families, as well as foundations and endowments.   Pettway has held various roles of increasing responsibility at PNC for a decade, most recently as Portfolio Manager.  Eric began his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Analyst and was a Portfolio Manager/Research Analyst at Mackay Shields and New York Life Insurance Company.  He is very involved in the Cincinnati community serving as a Board Member of the CFA Society Cincinnati, and as a member of the Investment Committee for 4C for Children. He is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati. 

Chief Financial Officer Mike Whelan comes to JAG from Crossroads Church where he was CFO, managing all aspects of business operations including finance, human resources, IT and real estate development.  Prior to Crossroads, Mike served as CFO for dunnhumbyUSA for nearly ten years as one of the company’s first full-time employees, and was instrumental in the company’s strategic and financial planning that took the company from 10 to 600 employees during his tenure.  Mike began his career at Deloitte and is a Cincinnati native.  

Ed Haberer has spent his career as a Senior Investment Advisor and founded Torch Wealth Management and Haberer Investment Management.  Ed is extremely involved in the community through a number of board roles with organizations such as Ursuline Academy, Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, among others.  He is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati.
