Grant Supports Affordable Veterinary Care for Low-Income Families
CINCINNATI, OH – May 9, 2018 – For the fifth consecutive year, Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati, has received renewal funding from the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust. This year’s grant of $28,500 brings the total support received from the Trust to $130,000.
As the only resource of its kind in Greater Cincinnati, the Pets In Need clinic in Lockland provides affordable, high-quality veterinary care for the pets of low-income families. Currently celebrating its fifth year in operation, the clinic has provided more than 21,000 veterinary care visits since opening in 2013. The 2018 grant from the Trust will be used specifically to provide wellness care and spay/neuter surgery assistance for dogs.
In 2009, the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust provided the initial funding for the part-time Pets In Need program at the UCAN Nonprofit Spay Neuter Clinic. In 2012 the program became a stand-alone nonprofit, Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. With the ongoing support of the Trust, Pets In Need has expanded its capacity and currently serves more than 1,800 low-income pet families. Ann Hill, Pets In Need Executive Director, said, "The consistent and generous funding provided by the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust has supported our growth and our commitment to keeping pets healthy and together with the people who love them. We are grateful to the Trust for its continued generosity."
