BADER+SIMON ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL EMPOWERMENT GRANT

National Arts Organization Paves the Way for Social Justice in the

Art Community Through Innovative Grant Program

 

CINCINNATI, OH – January 9, 2024 - Bader+Simon, a national arts organization spotlighting underrepresented artists, and promoting compelling expressions of art, announces the launch of the Bader+Simon Empowerment Grant. This groundbreaking initiative underscores the gallery's commitment to social justice by providing a platform for underrepresented voices in the art community. Annually, a recipient will be selected to participate in a show at the conclusion of the grant period, contributing to the organization's commitment to underrepresented voices and themes. The grant application window is open now through March 15, with funding beginning May 1, 2024.

Tamara White, founder of Bader+Simon, expressed her enthusiasm for the Empowerment Grant, stating, "The Bader+Simon Empowerment Grant is a unique opportunity to amplify underrepresented voices in our community. We look forward to witnessing the transformative impact that artists will bring to the intersection of art and social justice.” 

The Bader+Simon gallery, set to slated open its doors in Cincinnati's vibrant Over-The-Rhine neighborhood in 2025, will serve as  be a beacon for underrepresented artists, showcasing works that delve into subjects of significant importance. The gallery aims to expose audiences to diverse perspectives through rotating shows featuring both local and global artists. 

To apply for the Bader+Simon Grant, individual artists should submit: 

  • Short bio or resume

  • Explanation of how they learned about the Bader + Simon Empowerment Grant

  • Artist statement (written or video format, 250-500 words or 3-5 minute video)

  • Statement of intent (500 words max) about the project, development process, and the grant's impact

  • A Minimum of 5 images of work samples or a 2-4 minute video

  • Names and contact information of 3 references (one reference providing a written or video recommendation)

  • Budget & timeline for fund utilization

A virtual meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2024, at 8 pm EST, to offer guidance and answer questions for interested applicants. The $ 7,500 grant will be awarded on April 20, 2024, with funding commencing on May 1, 2024.
